Project on Egypt Then and Now

We divided the class into 6 groups of 8 and 9 children. The Project was divided into sections for the different groups.

  • Co Monaghan Towns and villages.
  • Activities for tourists. Where to stay and eat.
  • School tours around Monaghan.
  • Angling and fishing.  
  • Egypt Now Location.
  • Tourist attractions.
  • River Nile.
  • Facts about Cairo.
  • The weather.
  • Egyptian houses.
  • Egypt Then Egyptian hierarchy.
  • Gods and godesses.
  • Funerals and mummies.
  • Writing and hieroglyphics.
  • Farming.
  • Clothing and jewellery.

Face to face:

The venue for the face to face meeting was the Titanic Experience, Belfast. We met and our 6 class groups got togther with the corresponding group from Portglenone who talked with each other about the different projects. We had a very enjoyable lunch together. It was great to meet them.

Videoconferencing:

This took place 3 times during the year, 1st time before Christmas, 2nd time before Easter and just before we met in Belfast.

For Dissolving Boundaries Day 2014 we invited schools to send us short video recordings that show what DB means to them. We've pieced these together into a movie!

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
