Our project aimed to give the pupils a greater insight into their communities

Our Community Our project aimed to give the pupils a greater insight into their communities - to explore the differences and similarities between the two and learn about where each other lives. In Carrigaline we invited in members of the local community - Minister Simon Coveney, PRO of the Lyons Club, local sports stars, charity workers and business owners. We also went on a history walk of the local village. All these were documented on the wiki for the pupils in Annaclone to read. Likewise, they posted about local groups and legends relating to the area.

Face-to-Face

Croke Park, Dublin. Scoil Mhuire Lourdes left Cork early and took the train to Heuston. We then got the luas to Connolly and walked to Croke Park where we met the boys and girls from Annaclone. The whole group was divided into partners from opposite school and we got a guided tour of Croke Park. All the students thoroughly enjoyed this. For the majority, their favourite part was being allowed to sit in the Commentators seats. A room was then provided and the pupils had the opportunity to mix around and eat their lunches. The weather was lovely so they then got to play outside for a while before having to say their goodbyes and head for home.

videoconferencing

The two schools video conferenced four times, the first was an initial "getting to know you", the following two were based on project topics, forum conversations and general questions and answers. The final videoconference was on Dissolving Boundaries Day. Pupils spoke of their favourite parts of the project and both schools performed a song for eachother. The parents in Scoil Mhuire Lourdes were present and enjoyed seeing the video conference at work.

Media Gallery

For Dissolving Boundaries Day 2014 we invited schools to send us short video recordings that show what DB means to them. We've pieced these together into a movie!

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
