Examination of Design, Construction, and Purposes of a range of Significant Types of Buildings in our Environment.

So far, we have exchanged pupil profiles and have sent a number of emails. We have successfully engaged in a greater number of video conferences than in previous years (by this stage of the year). We have made preliminary plans for a joint visit and had hoped to have a first face to face meeting. This had to be postponed due to the unusually harsh weather but both groups have engaged in a series of visits and have shared information. St Bernadette's pupils have concentrated so far on materials (with visits to a quarry and a saw mill) and ancient and historic buildings such as the Grianan, Doe Castle, Derry Walls. We have also visited a significant modern buiding but built in a traditional style - the five star Solis Lough Eske Castle Hotel. Our work stalled a little in January and February due to staff injury and changes in both schools but we are keen to presson with further videconferences and extending our use of Wikis and Forums well beyond the stages previously reached. The videoconference is very popular and pupils are increasingly aware of the need for preparation and clarity of presentation.

As well as the ICT, Literacy, Numeracy, etc. we hope to embark on some more practical building and carpentry work in our garden area which we have been extending and improving over the past few years. We will also repeat work with planting raised beds and growing vegetables and fruit, completing our water supply and improving the sheds which the pupils have helped to build and install.

For Dissolving Boundaries Day 2014 we invited schools to send us short video recordings that show what DB means to them. We've pieced these together into a movie!

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
