Halloween Monsters, Christmas Gifts & Ancient Egypt

Students covered a number of topics collaboratively

We worked on our profiles early in the year and shared these with our partner school so the students could get to know each other. These profiles were printed out and put up on a notice board in each school. We then used video conferencing to discuss our schools and tell each other facts about our schools. Each group had to prepare questions prior to video conferencing. At Halloween the students painted monsters that they sent to their partners via the forums. Pupils used the forums to discuss their christmas wish list and pupils then had to guess what their partners got. Pupils also created christmas cards and we sent these by post to our partner school.

After Christmas the students started their project on Ancient Egypt which they completed using the wiki webs. Pupils video conferenced in February to discuss the layout of the project with their groups. We also shared some poems and songs. Pupils began using the blogs in Marchwhere they shared information about what was happening in their school. Students in both schools created a Display for Dissolving Boundaries Day and they held a video conference to celebrate the day.


By choosing a face-to-face meeting that is connected to our project we aimed to consolidate the class based work. We visited the Tutankhamun – His Tomb and His Treasures exhibition in Dublin which was enjoyed by all.

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
