A Comparison of schools and then writing stories

Our School. Getting to know each other's schools. Firstly we prepared PowerPoints about our schools which we presented to each other using Elluminate. Pupils got to ask questions about each school to establish what we had in common and some things that were different.
Collaborative Story Writing. Based on literacy skills, pupils were given the task of writing stories based on well known fables. There were 3 groups, each with a different fable to base their story on. Each group had to start or finish a story. Stories were produced on PowerPoint and then sent to the rest of the group for them to complete it. Stories were unveiled using Elluminate and the end stories were excellent with unexpected twists in each!!

Face-to-face meeting

Venue: Sheepbridge Bowling Centre, Newry
Date: 21st May 2013. The venue was chosen for location between the 2 schools, we had to stay in Northern Ireland due to the driving licence limitations which meant we couldn't drive our bus over the. border. We had a bowling competition, a get to know each other activity finding out about each other and a lovely lunch. Pupils were mixed in each team across the two schools with ease.

Videoconferencing

During the projects we videoconferenced on a weekly basis, this was to work on our projects, review projects and talk about how things were going. The pupils really enjoyed videoconferencing, they liked seeing each other and asking questions about each school and the collaborative stories

Media Gallery

For Dissolving Boundaries Day 2014 we invited schools to send us short video recordings that show what DB means to them. We've pieced these together into a movie!

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
