Getting to know you! Our school

Age: 8,9
Project Year: 2010-11

Students worked on building up relationships with their partner school

The children correspond through the use of Forums - they really enjoyed this part especially when they could see the pictures and profile of the children in their partner school. They made Christmas cards for the children in their partner school and posted them. Students have found entering diary details on the blog challenging - they record ideas on a flip chart and then have to select the most relevant ones. We look forward to reviewing them at the end of the year to remnd us what they have achieved throughout the year. So far the children have enjoyed corresponding via emails, their skills are developing beyond text and now include clipart and pictures from the internet.

Face-to-Face

For our face-to-face meeting we went to the Argory Dungannon Co Tyrone. Here the children were welcomed by the staff (in character). The children are encouraged to dress up as Victorian children, taken on a guided tour of the house and grounds. They then have to apply for a job in the house, as housemaid, kitchen maid or gardenboy. The role play is very realistic and the children selected for employent really believe that they are there to stay!!

We had a great day at the Argory. The children were dressed as Victorian children and once split into their forums they were shown around different parts of the house and gardens. The children responded well to the role play though were very glad to get back to the twenty-first century. The educational aspect of the visit was excellent but for most of the children the best part was playing together in the playground!

Media Gallery

For Dissolving Boundaries Day 2014 we invited schools to send us short video recordings that show what DB means to them. We've pieced these together into a movie!

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
