Deadly Disasters

Age: 13,14
Project Year: 2012-13

An exploration of the problems that planet earth faces, both natural and man made

The aim of the project was to work collaboratively with St Mary's, to explore, investigate and research the topics listed above and to enjoy creating the resource together

Online activities were as follows:
research on the internet
sending emails to our partner school
Collaboration was achieved through working on the wiki and adding and changing material supplied by both schools.

Face-to-face meeting
Venue: St Joseph's Rush and Coolock Leisureplex
We wanted the children to visit at least one of the schools and St Joseph's was chosen as our TY class were putting on a musical so this provided an entertainment item for the visit. The host students sat with their visitors and watched the musical. We had a small party at lunch time along with a special cake. The Principal Ms Patricia Hayden addressed the pupils and photos were taken and a small presentation was made to Ms Brown The school organised an Irish Dancing teacher to come in and teach dancing to the group as we thought this would be a great ice breaker. Finally we went bowling and the group had a meal together.

Videoconference
Only one videoconference - due to technical problems which resulted in poor sound and picture

For Dissolving Boundaries Day 2014 we invited schools to send us short video recordings that show what DB means to them. We've pieced these together into a movie!

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
