We will study food we eat from the main food groups and then focus on food produced in our local areas

After getting to know each other by uploading wiki profiles we began our study food. We studied the food we eat from the main food groups and then focused on food produced in our local areas. We also looked at food prices and the different brands sold in our areas. This was all done on the wikis which allowed for a collaborative approach. A sample of work done by one group is shown:

Face-to-Face

We decided to consolidate the learning that took place on food in choosing our face-to-face. We took a tour of the Tayto Factory which is described by a student:

On the 24th of March St.Marys N.S and Ballytrea school went to Tayto Factory at 8am in Tandergee. When we arrive we had to put on blue aprons and hair nets some people had to wear gloves. Then went to the first room we saw potatoes in storage, Philip got to empty the potatoes into a massive metal box which moved the potatoes to get cleaned.

In the next room we washed our hands it was sound proof. Next the room was noisy and we got to taste the crisps without flavour. Next we went to a new room they put packaging on the crisps and put them in boxes to send off to the shops. Some boxes had Asda on the side of it!

We went outside after we got our goodies and walked to the park. We had good fun in the park. There were loads of things to play on. Our favourite is the roundabout spinner. IT WAS THE BEST TRIP EVER

Media Gallery

For Dissolving Boundaries Day 2014 we invited schools to send us short video recordings that show what DB means to them. We've pieced these together into a movie!

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
