Pupils discovered the world around them through working together and using ICT

Our project had four main themes:

MYSELF: The children make profiles of themselves and share these with each other.

OUR SCHOOL: They make a DVD of their own school and share these with each other.

OUR LOCAL AREA: They research their own local area and share their work.

OUR WORLD: They each do a 'Flat Stanley' project and share their news of where their Flat Stanleys go around the world. 'Flat Stanley' is the story of a boy who is flattened by a notice board and his parents post him off to his cousins where his adventures begin. The children all make their own Flat Stanley and post them off to friends/relations around the world – some in the same county and others at the far side of the world. They stay with their hosts for a week or two and are then posted on to a new host in another part of the world. The Flat Stanleys travel for over four months and, hopefully, send numerous emails, photos, postcards and even DVD’s from their adventures. Through this project, the children get to share information on their Flat Stanley's travels and learn about many different places and people. They can do further research on some of the places and people they learn about.

Face-to-Face

The children had their face-to-face meeting in Lurgaboy Adventure Centre Armagh. They participated in lots of outdoor activities and worked together. Students completed activities such as archery, orienteering, low ropes course and other co-operative team games.

For Dissolving Boundaries Day 2014 we invited schools to send us short video recordings that show what DB means to them. We've pieced these together into a movie!

A documentary about linking schools through ICT; case studies of cross-border links between Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Dissolving Boundaries programme and in Israel through the TEC program.
