Pupils worked on designing and building houses collaboratively

The children have been broken into groups with three children from Donabate matched with three from Ballymena. Each group came up with a name for their 'Estate Agency'. The idea is that the children will communicate using the forums, wikis and video conferencing in order to come up with a design for a house - they may use ideas they find on the Internet to help.

The groups met for the first time in February 2011 in Carniny Primary School. The children got into their groups and created a brochure promoting their designed house. In May 2011 they will meet again in Donabate/Portrane Educate Together National School to make 3D models of their houses. It is then hoped that the children can meet when all of the work is done to carry out a review and to consolidate the friendships created.
