The Beautiful North West

Age: 12,13
Project Year: 2010-11

Producing a multimedia DVD for tourism in the North west region.

At the start of the project the schools got to know each other by using the forums and filling in the wiki profiles. In starting the project students shared initail ideas using the forums. Students then planned sample websites in groups using PowerPoint and they posted these in Moodle for their partner school to examine and comment on.

Throughout the year, these schools hosted two face-to-face meetings. For the first meetimg the students from Milford travelled to Derry. Students took part in a tour of the walls, Bowling lunch and shopping in the Foyle side. The second meeting involved an enterprise talk by the owner of Media Box, Joanne Sweeney. One teacher explained that Joanne “runs a company that does what the students are trying to do – solve a business problem by producing a multimedia product”.
